After an impressive feat lasting 126 hours and 52 minutes, Ghanaian journalist and former beauty queen, Afua Asantewaa, concluded her attempt to break the Guinness World Record for a sing-a-thon.

This surpasses the previous record of 105 hours set by Indian Sunil Waghmare in 2012. Afua’s record-breaking endeavor spanned five consecutive days, commencing on December 24 and concluding on December 29, 2023.

Having crossed the 72-hour mark early on Wednesday, she continued singing relentlessly, aiming to establish herself as the undisputed record holder. Her remarkable journey culminated in the early hours of Friday, reaching an impressive 126 hours and 52 minutes.

The official confirmation and verification of her new record now await assessment by the Guinness World Record judges.

Throughout the five days, numerous Ghanaian celebrities, including Becca, Cina Soul, Sista Afia, Kwabena Kwabena, Eno Barony, Kobi Rana, Sarkodie, Nana Ama McBrown, and even Ghana’s Vice President, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, rallied at the Akwaaba village to show their support for the journalist and former beauty queen. The diverse presence of well-known figures added to the enthusiasm surrounding Afua’s record-breaking achievement.
