Nigerian artist Afeez Fashola, widely recognized as Naira Marley, has alleged that Nollywood actress Iyabo Ojo has defamed and libeled him.
The singer is requesting a public apology from Ojo and has warned of a potential N500 million lawsuit if the apology is not issued.
In a letter addressed to Ojo, Naira Marley’s legal representative, Olalekan Ojo, detailed the accusations stemming from a September 2023 post.
The post in question asserted that Naira Marley engaged in spiritual and physical activities with the late singer Ilerioluwa Aloba, popularly known as Mohbad, and also alleged that Naira Marley caused mental harm to the deceased singer.
Citing specific online statements made by Iyabo Ojo, the lawyer representing Naira Marley has requested that the actress issue a public apology on her official Instagram account and in a national daily within seven days of receiving the letter.
Failure to comply with this request would lead to the initiation of legal proceedings, with damages amounting to N500 million being sought from Ojo. Additionally, a court injunction would be pursued to prevent Iyabo Ojo from making similar defamatory statements in the future.
