In 2023, Google has released its ‘Year in Search’ list, categorizing the top keywords searched on the internet throughout the year. The list covers various categories such as news, entertainment, memes, travel, recipes, and more.

The most searched event was the launch of Chandrayaan-3, marking India as the fourth country to land on the moon, specifically the South Pole. Other notable searches include the Karnataka Election Results, Israel News, Satish Kaushik, Budget 2023, Turkey Earthquake, Atiq Ahmed, Matthew Perry, Manipur News, and the Odisha Train Accident.

The conflict between Israel and Hamas, initiated by a surprise attack by Hamas operatives on October 7, caught the interest of users. The deaths of actor and director Satish Kaushik and ‘Friends’ star Matthew Perry are also featured on the list.

Google categorized the ‘Year in Search 2023’ results, including questions asked while searching for news or events on the internet. Queries about G20, UCC (Uniform Civil Code), ChatGPT, Hamas, events on September 28, 2023, Chandrayaan 3, Threads in Instagram, timeouts in cricket, impact players in IPL, and Sengol are part of the list.

The ‘How To’ list encompasses queries ranging from preventing sun damage to skin and hair with home remedies, reaching the first 5k followers on YouTube, getting good at kabaddi, improving car mileage, becoming a chess grandmaster, surprising a sister on Rakshabandhan, identifying a pure Kanjivaram silk saree, checking PAN link with Aadhar, creating a WhatsApp channel, and getting a blue tick on Instagram.

In the sports category, cricket dominates the top searches, with queries related to the Indian Premier League, Cricket World Cup, Asia Cup, Women’s Premier League, Asian Games, Indian Super League, Pakistan Super League, The Ashes, Women’s Cricket World Cup, and SA20.
