UK-based Ghanaian gospel musician Sonnie Badu recently opened up about the challenges he encountered in securing sponsorship for his recent concert. Despite dedicating over five months to meticulous planning, Sonnie Badu and his team faced difficulties as most of the sponsors they approached didn’t offer support.

Consequently, the artist had to make a personal sacrifice by selling his valuable Rolex watch to finance the event. On Saturday, December 9, Sonnie Badu successfully hosted his Rhythms of Africa concert at the Grand Arena of Accra International Conference Centre (AICC).

It was a noteworthy achievement, considering the hurdles faced in the sponsorship process. Prior to the event, the Baba hitmaker had shared pictures of himself in crutches on social media, revealing that he had undergone a major surgery following a domestic accident.

Interestingly, some netizens speculated that the domestic accident might have been a strategic move by Sonnie Badu to generate hype for his concert.
