John Dramani Mahama, the flagbearer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), has outlined his approach to governance should he emerge victorious in the 2024 general elections.

During a townhall meeting in Wa as part of his “Building the Ghana We Want” tour of the Upper West Region, Mahama emphasized his commitment to prioritizing the completion of existing projects over initiating new ones.

Mahama articulated that his government would focus on utilizing available resources to finalize stalled and ongoing initiatives, rather than embarking on new ventures.

He highlighted the importance of continuity in development efforts, stating, “Whatever resources that we have, we are going to use it to continue and finish abandoned and ongoing projects so that we can start making use of them.”

Specifically referencing the SD Dombo University for Business and Integrated Development Studies (SDD-UBIDS), Mahama pledged to complete abandoned projects at the institution if elected president in 2025.

He recalled the late President John Evans Atta Mills’ commitment to key projects at the Wa campus of the University for Development Studies (UDS), including an ultra-modern library, a lecture hall complex, and a students’ hostel facility, which had stalled.

Mahama expressed regret over the delay in completing critical infrastructure projects such as the Wa-Tumu-Bolgatanga road, emphasizing its significance as a vital link between two regional capitals. He described the road’s status as “a shame” and vowed to prioritize its construction to enhance connectivity and facilitate transportation between Wa and Bolgatanga.

Mahama’s remarks underscored his dedication to ensuring the effective utilization of resources and the fulfillment of development promises for the benefit of communities across Ghana.
