Cameroon’s football icon, Samuel Eto’o, is facing legal troubles as his eldest daughter, Annie, has initiated a legal case against him for allegedly failing to fulfill his maintenance obligations.

Eto’o, renowned for his stellar career with Barcelona and Inter Milan, is currently under investigation in Italy for reportedly neglecting his financial responsibility towards Annie.

Annie, whose parentage with Eto’o was confirmed in 2015 through a DNA test, was entitled to €10,000 in child support.

However, it is claimed that Eto’o has not met this financial commitment for the upkeep of his daughter. Although Annie is legally an adult at 21, she is a student and relies on her struggling mother for support, placing the responsibility on Eto’o to provide for her.

This week, Annie filed a complaint, prompting authorities to open an investigation into the matter. Despite Eto’o’s illustrious football career, this legal issue has surfaced while he currently serves as the head of the Cameroonian Football Federation.

The two-time AFCON winner is focused on leading Cameroon to success in the Nations Cup in Ivory Coast, where they have been drawn in Group C alongside Senegal, the Gambia, and Guinea.

In a related note, Samuel Eto’o recently shared insights into his move to Inter Milan under the management of Jose Mourinho, praising the Portuguese coach’s strategic approach.

Following his successful stint with Barcelona, Eto’o joined Inter Milan and achieved another remarkable feat by winning the Serie A, Coppa Italia, and UEFA Champions League titles, becoming the first player to secure back-to-back trebles with different clubs.
