Braimah Kamoko, also known as Bukom Banku, a controversial boxer, has announced his retirement from the sport.

Bukom Banku confirmed his retirement from boxing in an interview with Accra-based Okay FM.

The 43-year-old rose to prominence after winning a bronze medal at the All-Africa Games in Johannesburg, South Africa, in 1999.

During his two-decade career, he held the WBO Africa Light Heavyweight and WBO Africa Cruiserweight titles.

Bukom Banku explained his decision to retire by stating that he has been experiencing eye problems.

“I’m now grown and at the same time my eye is also paining me, so I don’t want to fight again,” he said.

“I have three children, two of whom are boxers, so I delegate everything to them.” I hand over my gloves to Abu Kamoko and Mustapha Kamoko to continue the fight.

“I’ve already paved the way for them to carry on my name.” Where I couldn’t reach in boxing, they might be able to reach. So I’ve officially retired from boxing.”
