Some supporters of the Black Stars in Ivory Coast, who had threatened to return home due to unmet expectations, have each received $400.
The supporters were transported to Ivory Coast by the Government of Ghana to cheer the Black Stars at the ongoing African Cup of Nations (AFCON 2023).
Frustrated by perceived neglect, over 300 supporters collectively threatened to abandon their posts and return to Ghana. After negotiations with officials, the disgruntled supporters were each paid $400 to address their concerns.
The payment was made in response to the supporters’ dissatisfaction with the lack of coordination and support from the organizing bodies.
