The Transport Operators Union and the Concerned Drivers Association of Ghana have jointly declared a 30 percent increase in transport fares, set to take effect on Thursday, March 7.

This decision, communicated through a press release on Monday, March 4, was attributed to the government’s perceived failure to adequately address their concerns.

The organizations stated that the government’s inaction on critical issues has forced them to resort to fare hikes to cope with rising operational costs.

They emphasized the necessity for constructive dialogue between the government, relevant authorities, and their leaders to address sector challenges and implement fare adjustments that align with current economic conditions.

Highlighting the importance of the fare adjustment for business sustainability, they urged the government to engage in discussions with their leaders to ensure a smooth implementation of the fare adjustments.
