Some prominent people, including sub-chiefs, are accused of intercepting relief supplies intended for flood victims, diverting them home, and misappropriating them. This is in reference to the floods caused by the spillage of the Akosombo and Kpong dams, which have left many people homeless.

The acting chief of Mepe, Rudolph Kwadzo Gli, expressed his reservations prior to the presentation of food and other relief items worth GH20,000 to flood victims in the town last Friday (November 10), by the Avazorli Union, of which Mepe is a member.

As a result, he urged all donor organizations to deliver relief items to the palace of the Mepe Paramount Chief in order to ensure an equitable distribution of the items among the displaced people.

According to reports, the acting supreme chief did not provide any additional information on those who committed the fraudulent acts.

Other Avazorli communities include Ziavi, Kpedze-Todze, Etordome, Botoku, Ando (Ghana and Togo), and Kpando-Anyigbe.

Togbe Kwaku Ayim IV, the Mount Chief of Ziavi, led a delegation of Avazorli chiefs and queens in a touching visit to Mepe to present the items at the palace.

Bags of gari, plantain, maize, corn flour, cassava dough, and a consignment of sachet water, bales of clothes, and an undisclosed amount of money were among the items.

According to reportsHe pleaded with Mepe’s chiefs and queens not to exclude physically challenged people from the distribution of the items.

Togbe Ayim promised that the other Avazorli groups would always be there for their siblings in Mepe, through thick and thin, and would always share their pain in times of adversity.

NPP can never make a decision without me – Kennedy Agyapong brags

Kennedy Agyapong, Member of Parliament for Assin Central, has asserted his influence within the New Patriotic Party (NPP), stating that no major decision within the party will be made without consulting him.

He made these remarks at a “Showdown” Thanksgiving party for his supporters and coordinators held following the NPP presidential primary.

Mr. Agyapong thanked his campaign team and emphasized the underestimation they faced in the run-up to the primary, claiming that their performance demonstrated their influence within the NPP, claiming control of one-third of the party.

“They underestimated us, but we’ve proven to them that we now control one-third of the NPP,” Mr. Agyapong went on to say. “No major decision will be taken without consulting us.”

Despite his defeat, Agyapong’s statement demonstrates his conviction in the importance of his influence and role in the party’s decision-making processes.
