Black Stars winger Joseph Paintsil has disputed Coach Chris Hughton’s claim that fatigue led to his substitution during the crucial 2023 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) match against Mozambique.
Paintsil, a standout performer, played a key role in earning Ghana a penalty, but he was surprisingly replaced at halftime. Hughton defended the decision, citing fatigue.
In response, Paintsil questioned, “What fatigue?” in a video circulating on social media. Despite Ghana doubling their lead through Jordan Ayew, Mozambique staged a comeback, securing a draw.
Ghana’s chances of progressing in the tournament now depend on other match outcomes.
