Stephen Kofi Apemah-Baah, the 16-year-old wonderkid who made history by becoming the first Form 1 student to compete in and reach the finals of the National Science and Maths Quiz, has disclosed that he began preparing for the quiz when he was in JHS 2.

According to him, he became completely interested in the JHS 3 Quiz after roughly a year of practice and was motivated to participate in the Quiz.

Stephen Kofi Apemah-Baah said to Joynews that he was shocked and pleased when he was given the opportunity to join Opoku Ware SHS’s NSMQ team since he knew it would allow him to meet the candidate for the 2023 NSMQ.

Another thing Stephen stated was that, while he chose and ended up at Opoku Ware School, it was not at the top of his list of preferred schools.

According to him, his dream SHS in JHS was Prempeh College, which then changed to PRESEC-Legon in JHS 3.

But he eventually chose Prempeh College, a family school where his elder brother and others in his family had previously studied.
