Nana Kwame Bediako, popularly known as ‘Cheddar,’ who declared his candidacy for the Presidential position in Ghana, is facing accusations of tax evasion from the Ghana Revenue Authority (GRA).

According to GRA sources, Cheddar was fined GH¢50,000.00 for not filing personal income tax returns from 2013 to 2016.

Despite settling a sum of GH¢209,171.00 between 2018 and 2020, he allegedly failed to file returns for the post-2020 period. The GRA estimated his tax assessment for 2021-2022 to be GH¢2,088,228 and GH¢5,096,536, with penalties for not filing returns.

The GRA expressed concerns about the implications of tax evasion on national development and questioned Cheddar’s financial practices and commitment to transparency as a presidential candidate.

The fines underscore the gravity of the tax evasion allegations and the need for accountability.
