On October 7, 2023, chaos ensued at the studios of the United Showbiz program on UTV as alleged New Patriotic Party (NPP) sympathizers stormed the building, disrupting the show.
In an unexpected turn of events, the group entered the station, intruding into the studios just as the live program had commenced, causing the show to go off air for close to one hour.
While the TV station had maintained that they had no hand in the alleged attack, some commentaries on social media have suggested that they faked the attack just for trends.
In their bid to set the records straight, UTV decided to release the CCTV footage of the incident during the October 14, 2023, edition of United Showbiz.
The footage revealed the shocking moment when a producer of the show, identified as Isaac, and the head of the camera crew were subjected to physical altercations by the intruders.
In the video footage, Isaac is seen in a corridor attempting to engage with the group, but within a mere 30 seconds, he is forcefully shoved by the group of 16 men as they pass by him on their way to the studios. The head of the camera crew faced a similar ordeal when he encountered the same group in the corridor.
Also, the police arrested 16 individuals connected to the incident. However, they have since been released on bail pending further investigation.
